A quick update, I will write more later if we have time before boarding.
We were on our way down from the Sears Tower when I got a message from Amtrak that our train from Chicago to Lamy was canceled and there would not be any alternate transportation available. I was stunned! My heart sank and I was quite upset.
We returned immediately to the station and they told us to hold tight, that the trains status was still up in the air. As of now, the train is still going to run but on an alternate route, putting us very late into Lamy. Fine with me!!! More time on the train!
Praise God he has taken care of this. More to come.
Craig, I think you all would perfectly happy if you could just get on a train which had tracks around the country and you could just go in circles and ride around the country!!!! Wouldn’t that be a blast????? Of course, you would want one of those strings to pull so if you saw something interesting you could ‘STOP THE TRAIN” til you were ready to go again. Adventure and uncertainly keep you all going!!!There shuld be a bus going from Chicago to Lamy—have you checked???? Do they feed you on the buses???
Only kidding!!Surely AmTrack will get it worked out!!! I know you have had a good trip. We are anxious to hear all about it!!!
Shew!
How scary!!! I am so glad it all worked out in the end! Can’t wait to see you guys when you get back!
Sounds like a very exciting trip-so far. Why was the train cancelled?
JO Mary and I made a similar trip to DC about 6 years ago – we enjoy train travel and intend to do it again in the near future.
We are enjoying the blog…keep it up!
As always, FR
